2009 Central Regional Conference - Oct. 16-18, 2009

SAVE THE DATES:  October 16-18, 2009 - Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, 2121 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL  60201 (note change of date and place)  "Soul, Sound, and Psychotherapy."  The presenter for the 2009 Central Region Conference will be Harry Pickens, whom many of you know from recent national conferences where he served as chaplain and musician.   His remarkable ability to combine his phenomenal piano talent with his spiritual perspectives on life and on the nuances of pastoral counseling has made him a unique resource for AAPC (see

History and Structure

The Central Region of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC - www.aapc.org) was formed in 1978, 15 years after the formation of the national organization. The region includes the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, and the province of Manitoba. As a geographical subgroup within AAPC, all members of AAPC within this area belong to Central Region as well.

Mission and Future

Mission and Future

The purpose of the Central Region is threefold:

  • encourage the recruitment and certification of members;
  • provide resources for professional development and competency, as well as fellowship and collegiality; and
  • attend to local or geographical factors affecting the practice of pastoral counseling

To fulfill these purposes, the region provides:
