2011 Central Region AAPC Fall Conference
Listening for the Winds of Change:
Spiritual Care in the Midst of the Whirlwind
October 21-23, 2011
St. Mary of the Lake Conference Center
Mundelein, Illinois
Keynote Presenter: Rev. Kathleen J. Greider, Ph.D.
Claremont School of Theology
This past spring we watched in horror as so many lives were devastated by a record number of highly destructive tornadoes that tore across the country. As spiritual caregivers and counselors, we engage deeply with people who live in the midst of the whirlwinds of their lives—physical, mental, emotional, vocational, relational, spiritual. What wisdom are they asking for from us? What healing can we bring to help restore wholeness? How do we listen for the voice of the soul and the still, small glimmers of hope and change? How do we remain grounded and effective in the face of such soul-wrenching situations? How do we sustain ourselves and those we serve when their distress is chronic and irresolvable? This conference is designed to engage all of these difficult questions and provide a community in which shared wisdom can be found.
